In The Garden

The birds in the garden are all fluffed up against the cold today...but don't worry, I'm feeding them well...xx

We're All Ears - February 2016

18th Century Standing Buddha - Metropolitan Museum of Art

Well, what is not to love about this statue, it's textures, colours, symbolism...everything!

My contribution this month is two pairs of bronze clay earrings.  The first pair are based on the pattern on the hands.  Applying heat to the bronze brings out all those gorgeous gold and copper tones but the pieces have to be extremely clean and shiny to achieve this.  It's best to do straight after they have been in the tumbler for a few hours.

The second pair mimic the texture on the Buddha's head and although I have left them shiny, I have given them a hint of a verdigris patina with gilders paste.  I also like to slightly curve my pieces to give them a bit of dimension.

Thanks for visiting, come back soon and to get back to earrings everyday click here xx

vintage lead figures

I am on a diet (again), so my cake stand currently has alternative occupants.  I think they like it, they seem quite chatty anyway...xx
